Week notes #1

  • I have done a functional training workout four times this week. I like these more than going to the gym and using machines. On Friday, I was too tired and decided to do an Apple Fitness+ yoga session at home.
  • It was a quiet week at work. Fewer meetings mean more work done. It allowed me to clear some backlog and reorganise priorities and next steps.
  • Working on the summer schedule and being out of work at 14:00 means I have much more time to relax and for my personal projects. I absolutely adore this schedule and I wish we could maintain it the whole year. Unfortunately, it’ll be over in September.
  • One of these personal projects was figuring out what I wanted to do with my blog. After migrating to Pagecord, I wasn’t sure about what type of content my blog should host: should I include short status posts? Should I stick to long-format ones? In the end, I decided to leave short ones for Mastodon and keep my blog for more meaningful stuff.
  • I have also tweaked the appearance of my blog. It will change with the time, of course, but I feel comfortable with the aesthetic now after tweaking some CSS – I confess, with the help of AI and an existing template in Pagecord’s Theme Garden. I plan to learn some web development soon as this is something that’s been on my bucket list for so long and will definitely improve my blog.
  • Another side project of mine is creating a physical photo album of my last trip to Japan in May. Since I started taking pictures with the FUJIFILM, I wanted to create photo albums for every trip I make. For that, I want to design the covers and layouts myself. I like the Assouline style of travel books, so I think I’ll try something inspired by these. I’m learning how to use Pixelmator Pro by using it, and it’s taking ages, but it’s fun.
  • I did something… irrational: I bought a 14” M5 MacBook Pro. I have a MacBook Air M5, but I have never been a fan of the screen. I own an iPad Pro and that panel is gorgeous. While I know it’s not the same on the MacBook Pro, I wanted to have ProMotion and a better screen experience. I had the chance to buy a base model MacBook Pro for 600 €, so I decided to take the splurge. It is set to arrive next week, and to be honest, I can’t wait.
  • We had guests for lunch today! My best friend, his girlfriend, and my friend’s parents came over to enjoy a nice pasta alla Montecarlo together with some snacks. I know them since I was 14 years old, and they are like part of the family. We always enjoy the time with them, and it was about time to invite them over.
